Every number on this page is computed from the complete archive of real Wordle answers — not a dictionary, not a guess list. The actual words that have appeared in the game, June 2021 through today.
603 answers — 31.2% — contain at least one repeated letter. Almost one in three puzzles. If your guesses always use five different letters, nearly a third of all games are unwinnable by construction.
270 answers have an adjacent double. The most common:
And 14 answers have used the same letter three times: DADDY, EERIE, EMCEE, ERROR, FLUFF, GEESE, MOMMY, MUMMY, NANNY, PEEVE, POPPY, PUPPY, SASSY and SISSY.

The sweet spot is clearly two vowels. The eight vowel-less answers all lean on Y: CRYPT, DRYLY, GLYPH, MYRRH, NYMPH, PSYCH, SHYLY, TRYST. Only three answers ever had four vowels: AUDIO, EERIE, QUEUE.
S is king of the opening slot — 14.9% of all answers start with it, ahead of C (8.6%) and B (7.5%). No answer has ever started with X, and only two started with Z (ZEBRA, ZESTY).
E dominates the final slot at 19.7%, followed by Y (14.3%) — surprisingly strong for a letter that's weak overall — then T (11.2%) and R (8.5%).
The famous plural trap: only 1.5% of answers end in S, and simple plurals essentially never appear. If you're about to guess one, don't.
J is the rarest letter in Wordle history — just 22 appearances (BANJO, EJECT, EMOJI, ENJOY, FJORD…). And in every single Q answer, the Q is followed by U — the QU rule has never been broken.
Some endings are minefields. Seven answers share the -ATCH pattern (BATCH, CATCH, HATCH, LATCH, MATCH, PATCH, WATCH), seven share -OUND and six each share -IGHT and -OWER. 37 answers have their letters in perfect alphabetical order — words like ABBEY, ADEPT, AGLOW and ALLOY. And thirteen run in reverse alphabetical order, like WRONG, SPOON and TROLL.
